Mission Statement

Dive right in with the Hoofer Scuba Club! We are one of six clubs that make up the Wisconsin Hoofers, otherwise known as the largest student organization at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since our founding in 1976, our mission has been to bring certified divers together, educate divers of all levels, and explore the underwater world together. We offer dive trips to local lakes, long distance dive trips, certifications, and social events for divers of all levels.

What We Do

As a club we make it a priority to be safe, have fun, and immerse ourselves in the diving community! Our diving community consists of both students and non-students, and is even open to people without their dive certification- we can help you get it!
We often do local dives for recreation or waterway clean-ups, and we occasionally plan bigger dives to farther places like Door County and Florida. In addition to dives, we often come together for other social events like bonfires, paint parties, and board game nights.

If you are not a member and want to join, visit the Outdoor Hoofers office near Memorial Union and the Terrace or call 608-262-1630 to sign up. Annual membership is $48, and provides you with deeply discounted gear and tank rentals, deals on certification lessons, plus access to a whole bunch of new diving buddies and much more! Please note that you must be a Wisconsin Union member to join, but active students are automatically granted Union membership. For more information, check here!

If you are a member, welcome! We have a calendar of events where you can find all of our scheduled upcoming dives and other club activities, like weekly board meetings.

If you have any questions, feel free to check out our FAQ or contact us.
